The Society of Instrumentation professionals was established in the year 1970, with Head Quarters at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore(http://iap.iisc.ac.in/isoi). Today it has seven chapters at Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Dehradun, Pune, Cochin and Kalpakkam. It strives to act as a link between academic institutions and the instrumentation industry, by organising several programs. It also conducts programs for students and working professionals in the form of short term courses, symposia and topical reviews. A group of ten officers from different of DAE Units at Kalpakkam (IGCAR, MAPS, BHAVINI, PRP and BARCF) met on 1.11.2018 and decided to do the needful to form the Local Chapter of ISOI at Kalpakkam. A four-member Executive Committee was also constituted at the meeting. Approval was obtained from the Chairman, Kalpakkam Management Committee (KMC) on 4.12.2018 to form the Local Chapter of ISOI at Kalpakkam. A request was made on 12.12.2018 to ISOI Head Office for the recognition of ISOIKalpakkam Local Chapter and a positive reply was obtained on 18.12.2018 from the General Secretary, ISOI, Bengaluru. The list of 18 ISOI Life Members from Kalpakkam was also submitted to ISOI, Bangalore. Inaugural Function of the ISOI, Kalpakkam Local Chapter was held on 31.03.2019 at the GSO Auditorium, Kalpakkam township. It was presided over by Dr. P Swaminathan, ViceChancellor, VELS University in the presence of Dr. Kallol Roy, CMD, BHAVINI and Dr. BK Panigrahi, Director, EIG, IGCAR. The details of the Inaugural Function were reported in the media and in the ISOI Journal. Shri R Ramakrishnan was appointed as the Returning Officer for conducting the election as per ISOI bye-laws for the Executive Committee members for 2020-2022. Announcement was made on 13.01.2020 for the election of Executive Committee Members with the date of election as 07.02.2020. The new Executive Committee consisting of ten members was constituted on 07.02.2020.
